We are thrilled to share an exciting milestone with you this week – Megamod has started receiving our first user payments!
In the life of a startup, a few moments are as exhilarating as when revenue starts to flow, and we’re celebrating this achievement as a team.
We’ve integrated the ability for players to donate to streamers during gameplay. It literally looks like bucks are falling from the sky – we’ve dubbed it "Money Rain”. And it’s just one of the StreamPlay options, a system we’ve designed to revolutionize how streamers interact with our games and monetize their streams.
Check out a short clip from one of the recent live broadcasts to see how it all works in action and get a glimpse of how the in-game donation interface functions.
We’d also like to thank our partner, Xsolla, whose Xsolla Pay solution we’ve integrated to allow players to donate through multiple payment methods.
What is the Megamod StreamPlay role?
Megamod StreamPlay is a powerful toolset that enhances real-time interaction between streamers, their audiences, and Megamod games. Streamers can influence gameplay, trigger special effects, host private servers with up to 400 players, and hold in-game raffles for their followers.
Streamers can monetize in two key ways:
- Through direct donations (already active), and
- Through platform rewards for streaming, based on the total player playtime on their private servers (coming soon).
StreamPlay empowers streamers to create exciting, interactive experiences that captivate their audiences, making streams more engaging than ever. Similarly, the Megamod Game Editor motivates creators to develop new games with the idea that the more playtime a game has, the more rewards the creator receives. As our creators are constantly releasing new games, this ensures that streamers and their audiences have endless entertainment! This week alone, 695 new games have been launched. And very soon, we will feature over 80,000 games in total! Our vision for monetization includes revenue-sharing models that guarantee fair compensation for all contributors, from game creators to streamers. And the platform will earn revenue from incoming transaction fees. This is how it all works in a nutshell.
Looking ahead, we plan to add advertisements in-game, offering streamers another way to get rewarded through their content.
Why are Streamers Key to Our Growth?
The global gaming economy is undergoing a major shift. Streamers are no longer just entertainers – they’re becoming ambassadors of change and key drivers of success for gaming companies. The live game streaming market is projected to grow to $12.53 billion by 2029 (Mordor Intelligence Report), with platforms like Twitch generating 2.86 billion hours of live-streamed content in 2023 (Technopedia).
With over 8.36 million active streamers and 140 million unique monthly viewers on Twitch alone, streamers represent a powerful channel for both player engagement and monetization. As performance marketing becomes increasingly expensive, streamers offer a more targeted and efficient way to grow our audience.
By providing streamers with the right tools, we are building a robust network that will help us scale. We believe that the infrastructure we’re developing through StreamPlay will be pivotal for Megamod’s future success.
We also plan to introduce additional monetization options soon, including an in-game shop where players can purchase unique skins and superpowers to stand out from the crowd, with more thrilling features to come!
